Ethnic culture and race question?

I was wondering about many things: First of all, what is the difference between race and ethnic background, like filling an application: do you say white, black, hispanic, asian/pacific islander. then what about your ethnic background what is that? is that irish, english, welsh, chinese, and african. Second of all, what race is jesus christ? Is he arabic, middle eastern, aramaic? Third of all, is arabic middle eastern a race or ethnic background. Fourth of all, are they european or asian? Are egyptians africans or middle eastern since egypt is in africa or am I confused with geographic location with ethnic background? And are Indians, Pakistani's closely related to ARabics or Chinese and Laotions more?
