Houston, TX-area bank fishing? Alligator Gar?

Brays bayou had a few large ones last week along the bank at the bridge on Lawndale. You can fish along the bank as far as Mason park from Lawndale on either side. I seen a guy pull in between a 4 1/2" to 5 footer a few months back using live perch or bluegill or something like that under cork. When I was younger I used circle hooks and would catch them every time.
