Does the name Samara remind you too much of The Ring?

I hate horror movies so I haven't seen it. I love the name but worry about the connotation. I just don't want the poor child conjuring up images of demonic possessions etc. Can't hurt my feelings- feel free to be brutal. I'd especially love to hear from people who have seen the film.
